Product Description

Product Description
The Heiho comes with stainless steel build with stainless steel liners, one locking, and textured G10 scales that are machined with Japanese kanji characters that signify Strategy system of strategy.” A thumb disk allows rapid opening with either hand, and the custom stainless steel clip can be quickly and easily mounted right- or left-handed with a single screw, yielding knives that are truly ambidextrous. The satin-finished 3.125″ blade is easy to conceal carry. It weighs only 3.6 ounces. Because some operators prefer it, LAWKS sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. To engage the safety, push the LAWKS lever forward. To close the knife, pull the LAWKS lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position.

2900-Heiho-hand
The Heiho 2900 folding knife, designed by James Williams (view larger).

James Williams is actively involved in teaching Military special operations and government security professionals who must at times perform their daily high-risk duties in environments which do not allow them to carry firearms or a large fixed blade knife such as the Heiho . They asked James to design a folder with the defensive power of the Heihothat could be carried in a pocket or clipped under a jacket. The result is the Heiho Folder line from Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT).

This model of the Heiho (2900) incorporates CRKT’s OutBurst assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. It also incorporates CRKT’s patented LAWKS safety system, which creates a virtual fixed blade when the LAWKS lever is actuated after the blade is opened and locked.

It uses CRKT stainless steel InterFrame build with stainless steel liners (one locking), and black G10 scales that are textured to provide a secure grip. A thumb disk allows rapid opening with either hand, and the custom stainless steel clip can be quickly and easily mounted right- or left-handed with a single screw, yielding knives that are truly ambidextrous. The satin-finished 3.125-inch blade is easy to conceal carry, and it weighs only 3.6 ounces.

Outburst Assisted Opening

CRKT’s patented OutBurst assisted opening mechanism springs the blade open once the thumb stud has been nudged outward approximately 20-30 degrees, giving you fast one-handed opening while ensuring that the blade will not accidentally open.

A long torsion bar engages a cam on the internal portion of the blade. The cam is ground so that when the blade is closed, the spring provides bias to keep it closed. When the blade is nudged open past 20-30 degrees, the spring leverage changes to propel the blade fully open.

LAWKS Knife Safety

A manually-operated safety mechanism for folders invented by Ron Lake and Michael Walker, the LAWKS safety system prevents the locking liner from accidentally releasing when the knife is open and locked. Sliding the LAWKS lever forward assures that the folder is a virtual fixed blade. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to accidentally release the liner lock when the LAWKS lever is activated and if the blade pivot is properly adjusted.

When the LAWKS lever is rotated forward, a metal tang comes between the locking liner and frame. Until the tang is manually rotated clear, the locking liner is trapped against the blade and cannot open.
